There is a constant phrase that comes up as people are learning to play with and connect to their intuition.
“What if I am imagining it?”
Um, you are. And?
Imagination isn’t just make believe and playing pretend. It is a powerful intuitive tool that we use to create a bridge between our intuition and our thinking mind. It is a way that your intuition has a voice.
I worry more about my mind making up stories that are untrue than I do my intuition. My mind will pull from all sorts of dark places filled with worries and anxieties and worst case scenario’s. My intuition - even when it is telling me the thing I wish it wasn’t - isn’t filling me with fear or stories or ‘remember you suck’ things. It is calm, supportive, truthful and makes things feel better not worse - even when its hard.
When we are working with our intuition or with energy work, or with visual consciousness mediations, it always feels like imagination first. That is naturally how it emerges. It feels like we are prompting and it is responding to us and what we want - which is also true. It is responding to us and will eventually start to lead us along the way, unprompted, unscripted, and wonderfully imaginative.
Often the resistance to this is because we are taught that imagination is a childish thing, that it is meaningless and doesn’t get things done, or it is frowned upon because you have to be in the ‘real world’ as we get older. But the most fascinating people are the ones that are connected to their curiosity and imagination and wonderment - this includes you (yes you, the one who is reading this, you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t a fascinating person).
As you are exploring the intuitive arts, let it be an art, filled with curiosity, with wonder, and allow yourself to suspend belief or needing something to be right or perfect or sensical, just let it unfold and see where your inner wisdom wants to take you.
